Videflo has an account, and it's created with Sign in with Apple: one tap and Face ID. There's no Videflo password to invent and nothing to remember.
Your account is what makes Videflo Cloud work: it's where your Tapes are protected, it's how they follow you to a new phone, and it's how the people you invite to a Shared Tape know who you are.
Signing in
Tap Sign in with Apple.
It appears after the introduction the first time you open Videflo, and whenever you've signed out.
Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple Account password.
Apple may offer to share or hide your email address. Either is fine. Videflo never shows your email address to anyone, and nobody can search for you by it.
That's it. Your Videflo account now exists.
The account is separate from the subscription
Your Videflo account is who you are. Your subscription, bought from Apple, is what unlocks the app. Both use your Apple Account, and both come back on a new phone: the account when you sign in, the subscription when you tap Restore Purchases.
Your Profile
The first time you sign in, Videflo asks you to set up a Profile before you go any further:
- Display name
- What people see, such as “Grandma Sue” or “Tom”. You can change it any time in Settings → Profile → Edit Profile.
- Photo or avatar
- A picture of you, or one of Videflo's built-in avatars. Required, and changeable later.
- Username
- Unique, and how people find you: they search Videflo for your @username. Choose it carefully: once claimed, a username can't be changed.
Your Profile is shown to the people you interact with: your Friends & Family, anyone on a Tape you share or join, and anyone who searches for your exact username. There's no public directory.
Signing out
Open Settings from the gear on Home.
Tap Profile, then scroll to Account.
Tap Sign Out.
Signing out returns you to the sign-in screen. Everything in Videflo Cloud stays exactly as it is, and signing back in brings it all back. Recordings on this phone that hadn't finished uploading stay on the phone too. They're not deleted by signing out.
Deleting your account
Delete Account is at the very bottom of Settings, on its own. It's permanent, and Videflo asks you to confirm before doing anything.
What Delete Account does
It deletes your account and Profile, your Friends & Family connections, and every Tape you own from Videflo Cloud, including recordings other people added to your Shared Tapes.
Recordings you added to somebody else's Shared Tape stay in that Tape, because it's their memory, but they're no longer attributed to you.
Videos already on this phone are not deleted by this. Your subscription is not cancelled either. That lives in your Apple Account.
Tips
Use the same Apple Account on every phone you own. That's what makes your account and your subscription follow you.
If you're handing your phone to someone else, signing out is the right move. Deleting the app would remove the recordings on that phone.
Frequently asked
I forgot my Videflo password. How do I reset it?
There isn't one. Videflo uses Sign in with Apple and never asks you to create a password.
If you're being asked for a password, it's Apple asking for your Apple Account password, and Apple can help you reset it.
Can two people share one account?
Videflo's subscription isn't set up for Family Sharing today, so it applies to the Apple Account that bought it. Each person needs their own Videflo account to appear on a Shared Tape under their own name.
You don't need to share an account to share memories. Make a Tape and invite them to it.
Do you have my email address?
Yes. Sign in with Apple gives Videflo the email address on your Apple Account, or Apple's private relay address if you chose Hide My Email. It identifies your account. It's never shown to other Videflo users, and nobody can search for you by it.
Can I change my username?
No. A username is fixed once it's claimed. Your display name and photo can be changed whenever you like.
